Installation View: This Wild Song at The Art Room, Photo: Ilona Nelson

EXHIBITION: 'This Wild Song' at The Art Room

June 24, 2017

THIS WILD SONG | EXHIBITION, FORUM, LAUNCH | THE ART ROOM | MELBOURNE | 24 JUNE 2017

This Wild Song (TWS) is a series of over 150 portraits and interviews with Australian women visual artists who have a unique voice by photographer Ilona Nelson.

TWS celebrates the strong female leaders in the arts community. Although the artists being featured are from varying backgrounds, use a diverse range of mediums, and are at different stages of their arts career; they are unified by their unique voices and distinct style. The inclusion of so many artistic mediums in TWS offers a broad synopsis of contemporary Australian art. A special pop up exhibition is being held for the launch only, exhibiting works by 20 of the TWS artists including:

Kim ANDERSON / Louise BLYTON / Terri BROOKS / Celeste CHANDLER / Yvette COPPERSMITH / Filomena COPPOLA / Nanou DUPUIS / Megan EVANS / Erika GOFTON / Kate GOLDING / Jennifer GOODMAN / Michelle HAMER / Dena KAHAN / Justine KHAMARA / Emma LANGRIDGE / Marise MAAS / Leith MAGUIRE / Indigo O'ROURKE / Becc ORSZAG / Tai SNAITH / Abby STOREY / Merryn TREVETHAN / Charlotte WATSON

To support this significant and large scale project, you can purchase a portrait, follow us on patron, to find out how to support TWS head over here.
